The DESCRIBE statement, shown in Figure 18-10, is unique to dynamic queries. It is used to request a description of a dynamic query from the DBMS. The DESCRIBE statement is used after the dynamic query has been compiled with the PREPARE statement but before it is executed with the OPEN statement.
